Step 1: To use the web part, enter the URL for the Site where the list lives that you wish to manage. If the list lives in your current site, no URL is required. If this is a Sandboxed Solution implementation you cannot enter a URL to another site outside of your current Site Collection. If this is not a Sandbox Solution implementation then you can use any Site URL provided the Site exists within the same farm.

Step 2: After clicking "Display Lists" you should be presented with all lists to which you have access. Select the list you wish to manage.

Step 3: After clicking "Display Fields" you should be presented with all fields that are assigned to the list, no matter what content type they are associated with. Select the field you wish to manage.

Step 4: After clicking "Display Field Settings" you should presented with several field settings which control if the field is manageable within certain list pages. Select the checkbox next to each setting you wish to enable.

Hidden - Controls if the field can be displayed in the list.
Read Only - Controls if the field can modified by the user.
Show In Display Form - Controls if the field is displayed in the Display Form.
Show In Edit Form - Controls if the field is displayed in the Edit Form.
Show In New Form - Controls if the field is displayed in the New Form.
Show In List Settings - Controls if the field can be modified via List Settings.
Show In Views - Controls if the field is visible within List Views.
Allow Deletion - Controls if the field can be deleted.
Show in Version History - Controls if the field is displayed within Version History.

Step 5: After choosing all your options, click "Save Settings" to record your field settings. Go to your list where the field resides and confirm that your settings have taken effect.
